The Richland is a favorite gem of mine tucked between Old Towne Orange and Chapman University. This venue brings together historic charm and incredible interior design for a cozy, easily accessible orange county wedding. As a preferred vendor for this stunning space, I find myself here every few months documenting a new wedding with new inspiration. These two weddings showcased on this page were colorful and modern with a hint of vintage.

The richland

Getting married at the Richland is quite convenient for so many reasons. I find that my clients love the proximity to Old Towne, the aesthetics of Chapman University, and the ease of one location for all things. The girls often spend their morning enjoying some blue bowl or play coffee, slowly getting ready, then breaking for a chipotle lunch around noon. The guys often hangout in the bar playing board games until it's time to get suited up, and overall take a very relaxed approach to the wedding day. This is one of the best perks of a single location venue.

This venue was beautifully designed with fun wall paper, tiles and furniture that marries the vintage and modern design elements you'll see throughout. Though the actual hotel rooms are all themed with the new and old, the main hall is a blank space that can be easily molded into your vision.

wedding photography at The Richland

There are a handful of things that you need to know if you are getting married at the Richland. While I love this venue, there are some unique features that need consideration while planning your wedding. First, the getting ready suite is not suitable for large bridal parties. I recommend renting the cottage for ample room if you have more than 4 people getting their hair and make up done in the room. Second, there are not many places on property for group photos. I have a list of favorite locations for family, wedding party and couples portraits around Old Towne, but these will require a little extra time to make happen. Third, this space is a single indoor room that requires a flip from ceremony to reception. Don't stress about this because your guests will be well fed and entertained during cocktail hour in the courtyards and bar. The downside is that no formal portraits can be done after the ceremony in the main room or courtyard. I always recommend a first look for this venue. It isn't a deal breaker if you don't, we just become limited on location options. Last but not least, this venue is perfect for having a morning coffee together. I highly recommend taking advantage of the location and enjoying a slow morning with a cup of play coffee before you start getting ready.
